Bakersfield is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Bakersfield follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Yeah, we made a reservation to this place for 9 people. They called at 4 to confirm our 6:30pm, we got there early for our reservation. When we arrived, they told us they werenβt honoring our reservation because of live music for the night & a walk in party of 20. They picked the bigger group over our reservation! Absolutely the worst service, and embarrassing for a restaurant. It was my dadβs birthday, we are loyal to this place, *were. We wonβt return because this is absolutely ridiculous.

I think Bakersfield has finally done its thing to Kan Pai. We went for Teppanyaki on a Tuesday night and made reservations, that part was fine. The overall appearance inside the building is showing clear signs of inattentiveness from the staff or ownership. The bathroom was disgusting, the air vents were dirty, and overall the place just felt rundown. The food wasnβt as good as we remember , overcooked and overseasoned. The chef told us he was new, which might explain some of it. The market price was absolutely ridiculous for a restaurant on Calloway Drive. The owner really needs to get the place back on track, or it will go the same route many places in this town do when they start heading downhill. Clean the bathrooms and fix your one overflowing urinal.

We had a very disappointing experience at Kan Pai tonight, and unfortunately it had nothing to do with the food. Earlier today, I called and specifically made a reservation for 6 people for Teppanyaki at 5:30 PM to celebrate my grandsonβs birthday while he is visiting from Kentucky. I clearly stated Teppanyaki when making the reservation. When we arrived at 5:30, we were told there was no Teppanyaki reservation for us and instead had been placed at a regular table. We waited a few minutes while staff looked into it, only to be told there were no Teppanyaki openings because the reservation had been entered incorrectly. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What turned this into such a terrible experience was how the situation was handled by the manager, Andee. Rather than showing empathy, apologizing, or trying to problem solve, Andee was rude, dismissive, and condescending. I explained that this dinner was important because we were celebrating my grandsonβs birthday and that the Teppanyaki experience was the reason we chose the restaurant. I was told the βbestβ they could do was seat us at a regular table and order Teppanyaki food there β completely missing that it was the ex

Been here a few times. It is my favorite hibachi place in town. The last time was there the chef was amazing, great show and food was really good. The staff was friendly, and the place was clean and organized well. Definitely recommend trying it out if you like hibachi.

The only minor thing I would mention that was just remotely negative and it's probably an oversight on my part, but we had to wait for about 2 hours for the table. However, my friends and I wanted to full experience of getting the chef to cook in front of us. But we didn't make reservations. (First timers mistake, π). If we had, I'm sure we wouldn't had to wait. Other than that, great place with great food and awesome service. They also have regular tables if you don't want the full experience and just want to eat (wait time for that was maybe 30 minutes. So not bad for a pretty popular place).
